Pahalgam, Apr 25 (KNO): The residents of Pahalgam held a peaceful protest after Friday prayers to condemn the recent wave of innocent killings in the area. The protest, organised by locals, commenced at Jamia Masjid Pahalgam and moved to the streets, where participants expressed their outrage and grief while demanding justice for the victims. The protesters, holding placards and chanting slogans against violence, gathered in solidarity to voice their collective sorrow. As reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), they said the entire region of Kashmir, particularly Pahalgam, has been in mourning since the tragic incidents began. “Everyone in Pahalgam is grieving; we witnessed the sight of dead bodies lying on the ground while the injured cried out for help,” said one protester. They described the perpetrators as "beasts", saying according to Islam, killing one innocent person is akin to killing all of humanity. The protesters extended a warm invitation to tourists from all over the country and beyond. “We welcome tourists with open arms,” said another protester. “Come to Pahalgam without fear—we will take fire on our own chests to protect you.” The people expressed concern that the senseless violence not only claimed innocent lives but also jeopardised the livelihoods of countless families. Many residents had hoped that an influx of tourists would improve their economic conditions, enabling them to provide quality education for their children in a region that is struggling financially. The protesters demanded a thorough investigation into the attack and called for decisive action against those responsible for the heinous acts—(KNO)
